In stereo mode use at least 2 Ohm speakers. When using in a high-power bridged connection, use at least 4 Ohm speakers. You can achieve this load impedance by connecting multiple speakers, but you must make sure that their total impedance together reaches the specified value. [. . . ] In this case, however, it is recommended to either put a switch before the remote control’s connection, or to take the control signal from a location which has no voltage when the ignition is off. GB XPRO 4000 owner’s manual • page 04 • black 4 Installation – troubleshooting Before turning on the power, make sure you have connected everything correctly. The connections should be solid and must not short-circuit; the switches and controls should be in the correct position. The green light (POWER) is lit continuously after switching on; the red light (PROTECTION) only comes on when the protective circuits are activated. The red light indicates malfunction, overload, incorrect connection etc. If the green LED is not on, disconnect the amplifier from the power, disconnect the speakers and the car stereo, and connect the power again. If the light is still off, use a voltage meter to make sure the amplifier receives the 12 V power and the ground connection is also correct. If your car stereo has a separate remote control output (REMOTE) which is connected, you need to check the control signal as well. By connecting the power, the car stereo and the speakers again one by one, you can identify the unit or cable which causes the fault. If needed, make sure the fuse is not blown. If you hear various noises from the system after turning down the volume, first unplug the RCA connectors from the amplifier. If the noises are still audible, make sure the amplifier is adequately grounded. If the noise disappears after unplugging the RCA cables, its source is outside the amplifier. Possible causes are: ground loop; bad ground contact at the head unit, equalizer or sound switch, or at another device in the audio frequency chain. A faulty circuit-breaker, old battery, bad ignition cables or bad contacts can all cause audible noise in the amplifier. Adjusting the input signal level Set the GAIN control to MIN with a screwdriver. Turn on the car stereo and set the volume to approximately 3/4. [. . . ] If your car stereo does not have this type of output, connect its speaker output to the amplifier’s high-level input. Set the sound switch selector to FULL/LPF/HPF depending on the frequency range of the two speakers. Then set one of the LPF/HPF controls as desired.
