Important Precautions and Safety Information When using this fax machine, these basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce risk of fire, electric shock, and injury to persons: 1. [. . . ] If you cant seem to alert the other person, it may be because the remote fax machine doesnt have the Voice Request feature. A Voice Request signal is stored and then sent to the remote fax machine after the document has been sent or received. VOICE REQUEST 2 When the phone rings, pick up the handset and answer it. You can cancel a Voice Request by pressing OHD/V. Req. again while you are sending or receiving a document. Answering a Voice Request 1 When the phone rings after sending or receiving a fax, pick up the handset and answer it. If you dont answer the Voice Request, the machine prints out the number, time, and date the request was made. CHAPTER FOUR : THE FAX MACHINE 4. 13 0-Chapter 5(GODREJ) 9/20/98 5:11 PM Page 1 Chapter Five THE ANSWERING MACHINE This chapter is for SF3000T 0-Chapter 5(GODREJ) 9/20/98 5:11 PM Page 2 Chapter Five THE ANSWERING MACHINE In this chapter, you will learn how to check your TAD greeting message, monitor incoming calls, play and erase messages, and access your machine from a remote telephone. Note: the SF3000T uses electronic momory as a recording medium. Recording time is depending on the content of the message, the total recording time (TAD OGM + AUTO OGM + ICM) is about 12 minutes. Checking Your TAD Greeting Message For information about how to record your first TAD greeting message, see page 2. 19. If you have not yet recorded a TAD greeting message, an error appears in the display. You must record a TAD greeting message before you can set the machine to TAD mode. 1 Press OGM. Play Erase OGM The display shows the time when the message was recorded. The display then counts down the time as the message is played back. TIME:09-10 12:45 To change a previously recorded greeting message, simply record a new one. Your machine automatically records the new message over the old one. For instructions, see page 2. 19. TAD OGM : 13s Monitoring an Incoming Call 1 When the call monitoring option is on and an incoming message is being recorded, you hear the callers voice through the speaker. The machine stops recording the callers message and you can speak directly to the caller. For more information, see page 7. 10. 2 If you want to speak to the caller, lift the handset. Playing Back Caller Messages Newly Received 1 Press Play. Answer Play Erase OGM During message playback, you can adjust the speaker volume by pressing and . The machine briefly displays the date and time when the message was recorded, then starts to play the message. This procedure is repeated for all messages. TIME:09-10 12:45 ICM: 20s(01/03) Where 20s(01/03), 01 is the number of the caller message currently being played and 03 is the total number of caller messages in memory. 20s is the play back time for the message currently playing. This time counts down as the message plays back. Playing Back All Messages 1 Press and hold Play until you hear a beep. Answer Play Erase OGM All the messages are played back. The display briefly shows the date and time when each message was recorded, then plays the message. While the message is playing back, the display shows a variety of useful information. TIME:09-10 10:30 To stop listening before you reach the end of the messages, press Stop or Play. The machine skips back to play the previous message. 1 GHI 2 JKL If you press l while playing back the first message on the machine, you will hear the beginning of the first message again. 4 5 If you press l while listening to the last message on the machine, the machine beeps and returns to Standby Mode. To skip forward 1 ABC DEF 1 Press l while listening to a message. The machine skips forward to play the next message. 2 JKL 3 MNO 2 5 6 Erasing Old Messages As more and more messages are recorded on your machine, the memory fills up. To make sure theres room for new messages, erase the messages youve already listened to, as soon as you know youll no longer need them. If the memory has no room before the caller finishes talking, the machine automatically returns to Standy Mode after some beeps. This is why you have to erase old messages. Erasing All Recorded Messages 1 Press and hold Erase. Play Erase OGM The display asks if you want to erase all messages. ERASE ALL MSG. ? 2 Press Start/Copy. When you use the call transfer feature, the machine operates as follows: When a call comes in and the caller leaves a message, your machine automatically dials the telephone number you have specified as a Call Transfer destination.
