E-9 Cleaning Your Air Conditioner To get the best possible use out of your air conditioner, you must clean it regularly to remove the dust on the air filter. 1 2 Before cleaning your air conditioner, ensure that it is switched off and unplugged from the wall socket. Hold the handle of the air filter, pull it slightly forward, and then pull it out to the right side.
