E-7 Switching the Air Conditioner Off You can switch the air conditioner off whenever you want. 1 To switch the unit off, simply set the operating mode selection dial to the OFF position. Result: The air conditioner stops operating. Selecting Energy Saving Mode (AW1010A/AW1210A) If you wish to save energy when using the air conditioner, select the energy saving mode by using the Energy Saver switch. This feature is normally used when the room is unoccupied. 1 To select the energy saving mode, set the Energy Saver switch to the ON position. Result: The fan and compressor cycle on and off simultaneously. This results in wider variations of room temperature and humidity. If you want to run the air conditioner in Fan mode, do not turn the Energy Saver switch on. The Fan mode will not operate when the Energy Saver switch is in the ON position. 2 To turn off the energy saving feature, set the Energy Saver switch to the OFF position. Result: The fan runs at all times, while the compressor cycles on and off. E-8 Adjusting the Air Flow Direction Horizontally The inner air flow blades on the rigth side of the unit can be adjusted to direct the air flow to the left, right or straight, thus increasing the efficiency of the air conditioner. AW0700A/AW0700B/AW0800A/AW1000A/AW1200A/AW1800A The side by side air direction louvers are controlled by a lever. They regulate air discharge to the left, right or straight. AW1010A/AW1210A 1 Set the Swing switch to the Result: position. The inner blades swing automatically left and right. 2 To stop the blades moving left and right, set the Swing switch to the position. To stop the blades in a specific position and orient the air flow in the corresponding direction, simply set the switch to the position when the blades are in the desired position. Adjusting the Air Flow Direction Vertically The outer air flow blades can be adjusted to control the vertical air flow direction. Upwards. Adjust the air flow blades to the desired position, by pushing them upwards or downwards. x If you orient the air flow blades downwards and the unit operates in Cool mode for long periods of time, dew may: - Form on the surface of the blades - Drip from the blades E-9 Power Failure If a power failure occurs, the air conditioner is switched off. When the power comes back on, the air conditioner starts up again automatically. Temperature and Humidity Ranges The following table indicates the temperature and humidity ranges within which the air conditioner can be used. Mode Cooling Indoor Temperature 70°F to 90°F approx. Outdoor Temperature 70°F to 110°F approx. Indoor Humidity 80% or less If the air conditioner is used at. . . Higher temperature Lower temperature Then. . . The automatic protection feature may be triggered and the air conditioner stopped. A water leakage or some other malfunction may happen if the heat exchanger freezes. Higher humidity levels Water may condense on and drip from the surface of the unit if it is used for long periods. E-10 Cleaning Your Air Conditioner (AW0700A/AW0700B/AW0800A/AW1000A/AW1200A/AW1800A) Be sure to clean the air filter periodically to maintain the air conditioner in the best condition for a long period of time. When cleaning the air conditioner, turn it off and pull out the power plug. 1 Hold the air filter handle, slightly pull it to the left side and open the front grille. The removal of the front grille makes it easier to clean the air conditioner. Open the grille as much as possible. CAUTION Removal and Reassembly of the Front Grille For user's safety, a safety clip has been installed in the front grille. 1 Grasp the lower part of the front grille and the air filter handle, then open the grille. 2 Remove the safety clip and the front grille. 3 When reassembling the front grille, you should install the safety clip again. Safety clip 2 Pull the air filter to the right side. 3 Remove all dust on the air filter with a vacuum cleaner or brush. 4 When you have finished, insert the air filter back into its original position. 5 Wipe the surface of the unit with a neutral detergent and then wipe it again with dry cloth.
