To access the Icon Glossary: In standby mode, press Menu Settings Phone Info Icon Glossary. Backlights Backlights illuminate the display and the keypad. You can receive calls and messages, but cannot place outgoing calls (except for emergency numbers) until you unlock the phone. Lock Mode also restricts access to menus and the volume key. Your phone's Lock Code is required. To access Lock settings: From standby mode, press Menu Settings Phone Settings Security Lock Phone. Standby Mode Standby mode is the state of the phone once it has found service and is idle. The first character of each word is upper case. · ABC -- Enter letters, numbers, and symbols by using the QWERTY keypad or by repeatedly pressing each phone key until the desired character (as shown on the key) appears in the display. · 123 -- Enter numbers by pressing the corresponding keys on the phone keypad or the QWERTY keypad. Tip: Using the QWERTY keypad, you can also use 123 mode to enter symbols into your message by pressing the keys labeled with the symbols. · Symbols -- Using the phone keypad, enter a symbol into your message by pressing the number next to the symbol in the Symbols pop-up window.
