Do not store or carry flammable liquids, gases, or explosive materials in the same compartment as the camera or its accessories. Keep your camera away from small children and pets Keep your camera and all accessories out of the reach of small children and animals. Small parts may cause choking or serious injury if swallowed. Shooting Options 43 Changing the camera's focus Adjusting the focus area 2 1 7 5 4 You can get clearer or photos by selecting an appropriate focus area according to your subject's location in the scene. 1 2 3 4 In Shooting mode, press [MENU/OK]. Press [w] or [r] to select an option. Option Center AF Multi AF Description Focus Area. Focus on the center (suitable when subjects are located in the center). Focus on one or more of nine possible areas. 5 Press [MENU/OK]. Shooting Options 44 Using face detection 21754 If you use face detection options, your camera can automatically detect a human face. When you focus on a human face, the camera adjusts the exposure automatically. Take photos conveniently by using Blink Detection to detect closed eyes or Smile Shot to capture a smiling face. The camera automatically releases the shutter when it detects a smiling face. Face Detection The closest face appears in a white focus frame and the rest of the faces appear in grey focus frames. · The closer you are to the subject, the quicker your camera will detect faces. · If your camera fails to detect a face, it will focus in the center. Smile Shot When your subject smiles broadly, your camera can detect the smile more easily. Shooting Options 45 Using face detection Option Description If your camera detects closed eyes, it will take two photos in succession. 5 Press [MENU/OK]. · Press [Shutter] to return to Shooting mode. · Face detection may not be effective when: - the subject is far from the camera (The focus frame will appear orange for Smile Shot and Blink Detection) - it is too bright or too dark - the subject is not facing the camera - the subject is wearing sunglasses or a mask · Face detection is not available when using a photo style, color, staturation, or the digital zoom. · When Smile Shot or Blink Detection is set, the timer is not available. · When you use the face detection option, the focus area will be set to Center AF. Blink Detection · Hold your camera still while 'Capturing!' is displayed on the screen. · When 'Picture taken with eyes closed' message appears, take another photo. The options may differ depending on the shooting mode.
