The EKI 1029 can easily be attached to a shirt or jacket pocket via the clip on the back ­ or the conference participant simply places the receiver on the table. The headphone socket allows connection of a wide range of headphones, for the extensive Sennheiser range see the chapter on "Accessories". Models range from lightweight stethoset headphones to almost invisible earphones. Even the hearing impaired are catered for with the neck induction loop or induction couplers. For example, a headphone model such as the HD 1029 offers optimum comfort even when worn for many hours. The EKI 1029 is automatically switched on when you connect a headphone plug to the headphone output socket. When the plug is removed, the receiver is switched off again. If no IR signal is received, energy-saving circuitry switches the receiver ­ with headphones connected ­ to stand-by. This prevents the accupack from being discharged too early, and there is no need to disconnect the headphones during conference breaks. If the IR signal received is too weak for good reception, the EKI 1029 mutes the audio output signal via the built-in squelch. The BA 1029 accupack is inserted at the side of the receiver.
