[. . . ] Connecting the microphone The microphone MD 412 is designed lor use with a tape or cassette recorder with low or medium impedance inputs. [. . . ] The MD 412 is supplied with a yellow windscreen and with a collapsible desk stand. The two possible positions 01 the switch are clearIy marked by the letters "M" (music) and "8" (speech). According to the particular position 01 the switch one letter will be visible. The switch lacilitates attenuation 01 the low Irequencies so that there is no overaccentuation 01 the bass range with elose-up use 01 the microphone. At a talking distance 01 5 cm and with the switch in position "speech" the Irequency response 01 the microphone is again approximately linear. in the position "speech" the microphone sensitivity to handling noises is also reduced. For recordings Irom a larger distance and with the microphone mounted on a tripod the switch position "M" will be chosen. For close-up use and using the MD 412 as a hand held microphone the position "speech" wbuld be necessary to prevent an overaccentuation 01 the low Irequencies and to take advantage 01 the increased insensitivity to handling noise.
