 [. . . ] Hold the microphone at arms length and bring it slowly back towards your mouth.  [. . . ] Due to the pronounced directionality disturbing noise coming from the sides and from the back are effectively suppressed. Signals reachin~ the microphone diagonally from the back (120°) produce only /12 (22 dB) of the voltage which would be produced by a signal reaching the microphone directly fram the front. Due to this characteristic the MD 417 is especially suitable for recordings in acoustically unfavourable environments. Robustness on the one hand and outstanding acoustical qualities on the other hand make the MD 417 an ideal choice for the keen audio amateur. The MD 417 features a high construction standard,  which usually only appears in dynamic top class microphones. Through the use of a precisely adjusted shockmount for the inner parts of the microphone good handling noise suppression has been achieved. The connecting plug is simply inserted into the microphone input socket of your tape recorder or amplifier. Sennheiser ofters two different versions of the MD 417,  which only differ by the connecting plug.  [. . . ] This translormer is simply connected between microphone and set.  [. . . ]
