Disconnect the AC adaptor. Insert the rechargeable battery or alkaline battery from the (+) marked side.
q Use a commercially available
LR6, "AA" size alkaline battery.
Notes: q Setting the volume level to "0" whilst recording with the rechargeable or an alkaline battery reduces the battery drain. q When you do not use the unit for hours, remove the battery. (The battery drains gradually even when the power is turned off. ) q Carry the battery in the supplied case. q This unit can be used with the AC adaptor when the rechargeable or an alkaline battery is in the unit. q After the rechargeable battery is charged or used, it will get slightly warm. Caution:
q Do not use a nickel-cadmium battery.

Hold Function
Useful Features
The present operation condition can be kept even if other buttons are accidentally pressed in a place such as a crowded train.
Orange mark
Move the HOLD switch to the safety position (direction indicated by the arrow).
(An orange mark appears. )
q To cancel the hold mode, move the HOLD switch away
from the safety position (the opposite direction of the arrow). q If the hold function is active whilst the power is turned off, the power cannot be turned on by mistake and the battery will not be drained.
