After you select "ON" and press the [OK] key, you will return to the option setting screen and a checkmark will appear to the left of "CHAIN DIAL". If you pressed the key, the checkmark will be removed and chain dialling cancelled. 5 Return to step 13 on page 64. 7 Return to step 13 on page 64. 65 PROGRAMMING [Transmission speed setting] To set the transmission speed, complete steps 1 through 13 on pages 62 to 64 and then follow the steps below. [International transmission mode setting] To set the international transmission mode, complete steps 1 through 13 on pages 62 to 64 and then follow the steps below. Note Set the transmission speed only when you know what speed is most suitable, such as when you are sending a fax to a foreign country and telephone line conditions are bad. If you do not know the line conditions, do not change this setting. Note 1 Select "TX SPEED" with the [ ] or [ ] key. • When sending a fax to a foreign country, telephone line conditions can sometimes distort the fax or interrupt the transmission. Selecting the right international transmission mode can help alleviate these problems. • If errors frequently occur when sending a fax to a foreign country, try each of modes 1 to 3 and select the mode that enables the best transmission. 1 OTHERS SUB ADDRESS CHAIN DIAL TX SPEED [START]:ENTER Select "INTERNATIONAL TX" with the [ ] or [ ] key. This setting is not effective for polling transmission. To remove the checkmark and return the transmission speed setting to "33, 600 bps (maximum speed)", press the key. Note If you select a setting other than "OFF", a checkmark will appear next to "INTERNATIONAL TX" when you return to the option setting screen. If you frequently send faxes to the same group of destinations using broadcast transmission, which is used to send the same document to multiple destinations in a single operation (page 32), it is convenient to program those destinations into a group key. If you press an incorrect key, press the [C] key and then press the correct key. • To store a Speed Dial number, press the [SPEED] key and then enter the desired Speed Dial number (000 to 299) with the numeric keys. A group name must be entered. 3 Press the [OK] key. • You can also enter a destination fax number with the numeric keys. However, in this case, F-code, chain dialling, transmission speed, and international transmission mode options cannot be selected. If you need to select an option for the destination, store the destination in a Rapid key or Speed Dial number and then store the destination in the group key. Up to 50 digits can be entered for the fax number. If you need to insert a pause between any of the digits, press the [REDIAL/PAUSE] key to enter a pause. To set the duration of the pause, see "PAUSE TIME" (page 96). When you have finished entering the fax number, press the [OK] key. 6 BACK OK GHI 6 PQRS Repeat step 5 for all of the destinations that you wish to store in the group key. Up to 150 destinations can be stored in a group key. AD-END 67 PROGRAMMING [Editing and deleting auto-dial numbers] To edit or delete an auto-dial number, follow steps 1 through 6 on pages 62 and 63 and then follow the steps below. • To edit a Speed Dial number, press the [SPEED] key and then enter the Speed Dial number (000 to 299) that you wish to edit with the numeric keys.
