Afteradjustingthebrakeshoepositionsothattheshoe surfaceandtherimsurfaceareasshownintheillustration, tightentheshoefixingbolt.
6. Check
Depressthebrakeleverabout10timesasfarasthegripand checkthateverythingisoperatingcorrectlyandthattheshoe clearanceiscorrectbeforeusingthebrakes.

TheBR-R650allowstheangleofcontactbetweenthe shoeandtherim(toe-in)tobeadjusted. Adjustingthe toe-inmakesitpossibletoobtainsmootherbraking operation.

2. Removetheshoebyslidingitalongthegrooveoftheshoe holder.

Tightening torque: 6 8 N·m {52 69 in. lbs. }
Wheninstallingthecomponentstocarbonframe/handlebarsurfaces, verifywiththemanufacturerofthecarbonframe/partsfortheir recommendationontighteningtorqueinordertopreventovertightening thatcancausedamagetothecarbonmaterialand/orundertightening thatcancauselackoffixingstrengthforthecomponents.
Tightening torque: 5 7 N·m {43 61 in. Therearetwodifferenttypesofshoeandshoeholdertobe usedintheleftandrightpositionsrespectively. Slidethenew
shoesintothegroovesontheshoeholderswhiletakingnote ofthecorrectdirectionsandboltholepositions.
Setthequickreleaselevertotheclosedposition;thenadjust theshoeclearance(asshownintheillustrationbelow)and securethecable.
