Please read the operating instructions carefully so you that you can gain maximum benefit from all of its technical featu res. [. . . ] You have been baking on several shelf levels at the same time. Items baked on the top shelf are darker than those baked on the bottom shelf. Condensation occurs while you are baking particularly juicy fruit flans or cakes. Select a slightly lower temperature and cakes and pastries with be browned to the same degree. Baking trays put into the oven at the same time do not necessarily have to be ready at the same time. Leave the lower trays to bake for a further 5 to 10 min or put them into the oven earlier than the others. It is quite usual for steam to occur during baking. Most of this escapes through the steam outlet. The steam can then settle on the opened top cover and form condensation. This is a perfectly normal physical occurrence. 22 Meat, poultry, fish Utensils In principle you can use any type of heat resistant cooking utensil. The universal pan can also be used for roasting large items. Always place the roasting dish in the middle of the wire shelf. When you take a glass roasting dish out of the oven, put it down onto a dry tea towel. The glass could crack if it is put down onto a cold or wet surface. Notes about roasting The results of roasting depend upon the type and quality of the meat. In the case of lean meat, add 2 to 3 tablespoons of liquid; for pot roasts add 8 to 10 tablespoonfuls, ac cording to size. Joints of meat larger than 1. 5 kg should be turned over halfway through the cooking time. When the roast is ready, switch off the oven, leave the door closed and allow the meat to stand for a further 10 minutes. Notes about grilling Always close the oven door while you are grilling. Whenever possible, items to be grilled simultaneously should be of the same thickness and at least 2 to 3 cm thick. This will enable them all to be browned to the same degree and remain juicy. Do not sprinkle salt onto steaks until after they have been grilled. Place the items to be grilled directly onto the wire shelf.
