If you are going to use a video mode that is not one of the 7 factory preset modes, you may need to fine tune your monitor to get the best display possible for that setting. To use the self-diagnosis, power down the monitor, then press and hold the power switch until three color bars appear. During this time, you should see the power indicator light begin to blink (after about five seconds), then the screen should turn white, then a display of three colored bars appears in the middle of the display.
