To select a desired preset number using the number buttons on the remote Press number buttons instead of performing step 3. To enter preset number 10 or higher, press >10 and enter the corresponding digits. The preset stations are retained for about a day even if you disconnect the power cord or if a power failure occurs. To enter preset number 20, press >10, then 2 and 10/0. You can listen to a radio station either by selecting a preset station or by manually tuning in a station. * The station name appears only if you have labeled the station (see "Labeling the preset stations" on page 16). When an FM stereo program has static noise, press FM MODE on the remote repeatedly until "MONO" appears. Press TUNING MODE on the remote repeatedly until "AUTO" appears in step 2, then press TUNING ­ or + (or ­ or + on the remote). The frequency indication changes and the scanning stops when the system tunes in a station (Automatic Tuning). You can label each preset station with up to 10 symbols or characters (Station Name). RDS may not work properly if the station you have tuned in is not transmitting the RDS signal properly or if the signal is weak. * Not all FM stations provide RDS service, nor do they all provide the same type of services. If you are not familiar with the RDS system, check with your local radio stations for details on RDS services in your area. Simply select a station from the FM band. Each time you press DISPLAY, the display changes cyclically as follows: Station name** t Frequency t Clock display t Volume ** If the RDS broadcast is not properly received, the station name may not appear. Generating a more dynamic sound Falling asleep to music -- Sleep Timer You can set the system to turn off after a certain time, so that you can fall asleep to music. Each time you press the button, the minute display (the turn-off time) changes cyclically as follows: AUTO* t 90min t 80min t 70min t . t 10min t OFF * The system automatically turns off after the current sound source finishes playing (up to 4 hours). Check the remaining sleep time** Change the time to turn off Cancel the Sleep Timer function ** You cannot check the remaining time when you select "AUTO". You can enjoy the original sound by setting BASS and TREBLE to "­ ­". By setting the Play Timer, you can make the system automatically turn on and off at specified day and times.
