Installing and replacing the backup battery
1 KeeptheACplugconnectedtotheAC
outlet, removethescrewthatsecuresthe batterycompartmentattherearofthe unitusingascrewdriver, andremovethe batterycompartment(SeeFig. -). Insertanewbatteryinthebattery compartmentwiththesidefacingup. Toremovethebatteryfromthebattery compartment, pushitoutfromtheside markedPUSH(SeeFig. -). [. . . ] Toreducetheriskoffire, donotcoverthe ventilationoftheapparatuswithnewspapers, tablecloths, curtains, etc. Anddonotplacelighted candlesontheapparatus. Toreducetheriskoffireorelectricshock, donot exposethisapparatustodrippingorsplashing, anddonotplaceobjectsfilledwithliquids, such asvases, ontheapparatus. Donotinstalltheapplianceinaconfinedspace, suchasabookcaseorbuilt-incabinet. Donotexposethebatteries(batterypackor batteriesinstalled)toexcessiveheatsuchas sunshine, fireorthelikeforalongtime. Asthemainplugisusedtodisconnecttheunit fromthemains, connecttheunittoaneasily accessibleACoutlet. Shouldyounoticean abnormalityintheunit, disconnectthemainplug fromtheACoutletimmediately.

CLOCKandDSTareunavailablewhilethe alarmsoundsorwhenthesnoozefunctionis turnedon. Thealarmfunctionworksasusualatthefirst andlastdayofdaylightsavingtime(summer time). Asaresult, iftheautomaticDST/ summertimeadjustmentisset(UKmodel only)andthealarmissetatatimeskipped whenthedaylightsavingtimebegins, thealarm isskipped;ifthealarmissetatatime overlappingwhendaylightsavingtimeends, thealarmwillsoundtwice. IfthesamealarmtimeissetforbothALARM AandB, theALARMAtakespriority.
Setting the sleep timer
Youcanfallasleeptotheradiousingthebuilt-in sleeptimerthatturnsofftheradioautomatically afterapresetduration. Theradioturnson. Youcansetthesleeptimerto 90, 60, 30, or15minutes. Eachpresschangesthe displayasfollows: 90 60 30 15

Twoshortbeepssoundwhenthedisplayreturns to"90". Theradiowillplayforthedurationyouset, then shutoff.
To turn off the radio before the preset time
PressRADIO OFF/ALARM RESETorSNOOZE/ DATE/SLEEP OFF.
To use both sleep timer and alarm
Youcanfallasleeptotheradioandalsobe awakenedbythebuzzer, radioormelodyalarmat thepresettime.
To display the year and date
Setting the alarm
Thedualalarmfunctionallowsyoutosettwo alarmprogrammes(ALARMAandALARMB). Thealarmtimecanbesetforeachprogramme andthealarmsoundisselectablefrombuzzer, radioormelody. Notes Beforesettingthealarm, makesuretosetthe clock(see"Settingtheclockanddate"). Thefactorysetalarmtimeis"PM12:00". Tosettheradioalarm, firsttuneintoastation andadjustthevolume(see"Operatingthe radio").
PressSNOOZE/DATE/SLEEP OFF. Thealarmsoundstopsbutwillautomatically comeonagainafterabout10minutes. Eachtime youpressSNOOZE/DATE/SLEEP OFF, the snoozetimechangesasfollows: Themaximumsnoozetimeis60minutes. Thedisplayshowsthesnoozetimeforabout4 secondsandreturnstoshowthecurrenttime. [. . . ] TheALARMA(orB)indicatordisappearsfrom thedisplay. Note on alarm in the event of a power interruption Intheeventofapowerinterruption, thealarm functionsworkuntilthebatteryisempty.
