Don't turn the foot of rubber over hardly! The shatter-hook terminal will stick out or hurt the rubber. -23- SECTION 3 SET-UP ADJUSTMENTS l The following adjustments should be made when a complete realignment is required or a new picture tube is installed. Perform the adjustments in order as follows : 1. White Balance Note : Test Equipment Required. . l These adjustments should be performed with rated power supply voltage unless otherwise noted. Controls and switch should be set as follows unless otherwise noted : PICTURE control . Preparations : 0 In order to reduce the influence of geomagnetism on the set's picture tube face it east or west. * Switch on the set's power and degauss with the degausser. Purity control 13-l. Input the white signal with the pattern generator. Use the RV 703 (B Drive) and RV 705 (G Drive) to adjust white balance. 2. 3. In the adjustments below, have the picture color and brightness settings at their normal levels unless there is a specific instruction to the contrary. -27- SECTION 4 SAFETY RELATED ADJUSTMENTS E R542 CONFIRMATION METHOD (HOLD-DOWN CONFIRMATION) AND READJUSTMENTS The following adjustments should always be performed when replacing the following components (marked with 0 on the schematic diagram). IC601, Q605, Q606, C536, R542, R546, R62O, R621, R629, R630, R639, PM501 0 1. Preparation before confirmation 1) Remove R620 on the D board and connect a variable resistor (RVl : about 20k0 ) between pin 0 of IC601 and B+ line. 2) Supply 120+2. OV AC to with variable autotransformer. Hold-down operation confirmation 1) Turn the POWER switch ON, \and receive entirely white signals and adjust ABL current to 1650 + 20 PA with PICTURE and BRIGHT etc controls. 2) Increase B+ line voltage gradually by adjusting the resistor of RVl. Confirm that the minimum voltage is less than 144. OV DC whereby the raster disappears during operation of hold-down circuit. NOTE: When the hold-down circuit starts operating, switch OF'F' the POWER of the set immediately. 3) Turn the POWER switch ON, and receive dot signals and adjust ABL current to 150f20pA with PICTURE and BRIGHT etc controls. 4) Increase B+ line voltage gradually by adjusting the resistor of RVl.
