3-2-5 Cut Overwriting (Editing Using OVERWRITE mode)
In OVERWRITE mode, you set a total of three edit points, both IN points and either one of the OUT points on the recorder and player, then carry out overwrite editing.
Operation in OVERWRITE mode
The editing operation in OVERWRITE mode is as follows. · Regardless of the order in which you set the edit points, once you have set both player and recorder IN points and either one of the OUT points, you can execute the edit. The fourth edit point is calculated automatically.
Automatic calculation of fourth edit point Player IN Recorder IN OUT OUT
Result of executing edit
· If all four of the IN and OUT points on the player and recorder are set, then the OUT point on the recorder takes precedence over the OUT point on the player.

Handling of exceptional cases If the recorder OUT point calculated automatically from the player IN and OUT points and the recorder IN point is outside the outside the range of the file on the recorder, the length of the file on the recorder as the editing result is increased as shown in the figure below.

Notes
· As in conventional linear editing, the OUT point is not included in the editing interval. Therefore, it is not possible to specify up to the last frame of the recorder file to be overwritten. To overwrite up to and including the last frame of the recorder file, leave the recorder OUT point unset, as above, and carry out the overwriting with only the player OUT point set. You can also use this function with a BLACK/MUTING loaded on the player to delete up to and including the last frame of the recorder file. · To overwrite everything up through the last frame, use the ten-keys of the MAVE-D555 to specify the end point of the file plus one frame as the OUT point.

Operations for Nonlinear Editing (Operations in Cut Units)
Overwriting a cut
The operation for overwriting a cut depends slightly on whether the section used for overwriting is specified on the player, or whether a section on the recorder is specified as the source for overwriting (in other words, an operation within a single file).
