 [. . . ] When you extend the headphone cord,  pull out the L and R headphones while holding the reel section.  [. . . ] Hold the headphone cord until it is completely retracted. Pull out the headphone cord about 50 cm and press the retracting button again as shown by the arrow in the illustration. Do not retract the headphone cord when you are wearing the headphones as the headphones or cord may hit your face.   Pull out the L and R headphones together to prevent tangling the cords in the reel section.   Do not put weight or pressure on the headphones as it may cause the headphones to deform during long storage. A Hard Disk Drive player or the like needs to be handled with special care. Please use the belt clip to absorb shock effectively,  and make sure it is fastened by the touch and close fastener securely.
