Training Your PUPPY ®Unit Introduction Training Your PUPPY ® Unit Thanks for purchasing (shall we say adopting?) a Sony Puppy® fingerprint identity device. We think you'll find it to be easy-to-use and a convenient tool in your day-to-day interactions with your computer. Just think. . . you won't need to worry about typing and remembering passwords any more!This handy guide will assist you in setting up, using, and maintaining your Puppy unit to obtain the best results. [. . . ] Follow the instructions on the screen, and place your finger on the sensor to capture your fingerprint image. Three fingerprint images will be captured. If you want to have your fingerprint images captured again (in the case of a bad placement or mistake), click [Stop]. Place your finger on the sensor to capture your fingerprint image again. The Puppy unit will compare the selected image with this image to decide whether it is sufficient for registration. o If the selected image is accepted, a green frame will be displayed. o If you see a message "Verification failed. Please verify again", please go through the process again. Be sure to carefully place your finger over the sensor. 18. 19. Section 3: Enrolling Your Fingerprints on the Puppy ® Device Section 4: Using Puppy SuiteTM Authentication Software 9. When you are asked to "Please click [Register], " click [Register]. You will see the message, "The user has been created. " This section provides you with the basic tools needed to use your Puppy ® device to logon to your PC, replace passwords in applications and websites, and secure your files from prying eyes. Walkthroughs, advanced settings and configuration instructions are explained in the Puppy Suite Help file. Important: If you are concerned about losing your passwords in the event your computer or hard drive crashes, it might be a good idea to keep a copy of your passwords in a secure location. WINDOWS LOGON Instead of having to type a password to logon to Windows, you only need to provide your fingerprint!Your screensaver can also lock your computer when you step away. Just be sure to set your screensaver to [Password protected] in the screen saver settings in the Display Properties dialog box. Simply register your fingerprints (and/or password) as instructed in Section 3, and you will be able to login with your fingerprint by choosing your user name from the list and placing your finger on the Puppy device. If you have enrolled more than one fingerprint, click [Change Finger] at the Logon dialog box and click on the appropriate finger. PASSWORD PROVIDER Tired of typing usernames, passwords, and other account information into websites and applications?The Password Provider application allows you to automate the entry of that information so that all is required is a simple press of the finger. When you come to a web page or application with information you would like to store, type the information as you normally would. If any information has been pre-filled for you, please select it and re-type it in. [. . . ] Do not plug the device in before the prompt, as it may cause your installation to fail. I plugged the FIU-600 in before the installation, but Windows could not find the drivers. Open the Windows Device Manager and check whether [FIU-600] is showing as an (Unidentified Device). If so, delete [FIU-600], press [Renew] (or right-click in the window and select [Scan for hardware changes]) and follow the instructions on the screen. [. . . ]
