Note Turn off the MEGA BASS or BASS BOOST (Walkman, etc. ) function as it may cause audible distortion. Listening to the sound 1 Press 1 to turn on the system. 2 Press BAND/INPUT repeatedly. Each press changes the display as follows: t FM t AM t LINE IN1 t LINE IN2 Notes · Select LINE IN1 to listen to device connected to INPUT 1 jack. · Select LINE IN2 to listen to device connected to INPUT 2 jack. 3 Start playing on the connected device. 4 Press VOLUME +/­ to adjust the volume. Tips · Depending on the connected device, it may be necessary to adjust the volume on the connected device as well. · The volume level on the system may vary depending on the connected device. 5 Press 1 to turn off the system after using. 10GB Listening to the radio 1 Press BAND/INPUT repeatedly to select FM or AM band, then press MENU. To change the AM tuning interval (Except for European model) The factory setting for AM tuning interval is 9 kHz (or 10 kHz for some areas). 1 Press BAND/INPUT repeatedly to select AM band. 2 Press TUNE +/­ repeatedly until "TUNING" flashes in the display, then press ENTER. 2 Press 1 to turn off the system. 3 Press and hold 1 and ENTER at the same time. "9K STEP" or "10K STEP" appears in the display. When you change the interval, all the AM preset stations are erased. Tip To improve broadcast reception, adjust the direction of the supplied antennas, or connect an external antenna. Basic Operations 3 Press TUNE +/­ repeatedly until "AUTO" flashes in the display, then press MENU. 4 Press TUNE +/­. Scanning stops automatically when a station is tuned in and "TUNED" lights up in the display. When a FM stereo program is tuned in, "ST" lights up in the display. Note If "TUNED" does not light up and scanning does not stop, see "To tune in a station with a weak signal" below. To reduce static noise on a weak FM stereo station 5 Press VOLUME +/­ to adjust the volume. 1 Press MENU. 2 Press TUNE +/­ repeatedly until "FM MODE" flashes in the display, then press ENTER. To stop automatic scanning Press ENTER. 3 Press TUNE +/­ repeatedly until "MONO" flashes in the display, then press MENU. · Is the system become overheating?After checking the above items and fixing any problems, plug in the power cord again and turn on the system. If the "PROTECT", "PULL" and "PLUG" still light up in the display, or if the cause of the problem cannot be found even after checking all the above items, consult your nearest Sony dealer. · Make sure all the connections have been correctly made. · Make sure none of the audio devices are positioned too close to the TV set or monitor. The sound has suddenly stopped. · Make sure all the connections have been correctly made. The display starts flashing as soon as you plug in the power cord even though you have not turned on the system. Additional Information · The demonstration mode started. Press 1 (page 8). The Sleep Timer setting is canceled. · The power cord is disconnected or a power failure occurred. If you have set the Sleep Timer, redo "Using the Sleep Timer" (page 14). The Sleep Timer does not function. · Check the Sleep Timer setting and set the correct time (page 14). There is no sound output from the headphone. · Check the headphone connection. · Check that the audio source on the selected channel is played back. General The sound level is too low. Speakers There is no sound from the speaker system. · Turn up the volume on the connected device. · Turn up the volume on this system if necessary. The sound is distorted. · Turn down the volume level on the connected device. Or, if the connected device has a BASS BOOST function, set it to off. · Press VOLUME ­ repeatedly on this system to reduce the volume. · Make sure all the connections have been correctly made. · Make sure the volume on the left satellite speaker and the connected device have been turned up properly. Additional Information Although this system is magnetically shielded, there may be cases that the picture on some TV sets/personal computers may become magnetically distorted. In such a case, turn off the power of the TV set/personal computer once, and after 15 to 30 minutes turn it on again. In the case of a personal computer, take appropriate measures, such as data storage, before turning it off. When there seems to be no improvement, locate the system farther away from the TV set/personal computer. [. . . ]
