Attaching one speaker without the other may cause the unit to tip over and injure someone. 4 Pass the power cord through the  groove on the bottom of the stand (D). If the stand is set up without passing the power cord through the groove,  the weight of the unit may damage the power cord,  which could lead to electric shock or fire. Securing the base plate to the stand,  pass the power cord through the hole in the base plate (A-1) and then attach the base plate to the bottom of the CMT-MD1 with two supplied screws (A-2).
