Using your VAIO computer Hardware Guide nN 42 Communicating with an Access Point (infrastructure) An infrastructure network is a network that extends an existing wired local network to wireless devices by providing an Access Point, for example the Sony PCWA-A320 Access Point. The Access Point bridges the wireless and wired LAN and acts as a central controller for the Wireless LAN. The Access Point coordinates transmission and reception from multiple wireless devices within a specific range. PO WW I NET REL ER W ESS ORK AC CE SS PO IN T To communicate with an Access Point (infrastructure), proceed as follows: 1 Turn on the Wireless switch of the computer. 2 Right-click the network icon in the taskbar displaying the Wireless Network Connection message. 3 Click View Available Wireless Networks. The Wireless Network Connection dialog box appears. If you are using the Sony Access Point PCWA-A320, by default, you don't need to enter any encryption key (WEP/WPA). To be able to communicate, you must select the box Allow me to connect to the selected wireless network, even though it is not secure. After 30 seconds, the connection is established.
