VAIO Power Management is a software application developed exclusively for VAIO computers. With this software application, you can enhance the Windows power management functions to ensure better operation of your computer and longer battery life. For more information on VAIO Power Management, see the help file on the VAIO Power Management software. Selecting a Power Plan When you start the computer, a power status icon appears on the taskbar. ESD can damage memory modules and other components. Install the memory module only at an ESD workstation. Ground yourself by maintaining contact with an unpainted metal portion of the chassis while performing the procedure. Do not open the memory module package before you are ready to change the module. The package protects the module from ESD. n 117 N Upgrading Your VAIO Computer Use the special bag delivered with the memory module or wrap the module in aluminum foil to protect it from ESD. Introducing any liquids, foreign substances, or objects into the memory module slots or other internal components of your computer will result in damage to the computer and any repair costs will not be covered by the warranty. Do not place the memory module in a location subject to: Heat sources such as radiators or air ducts Direct sunlight Excessive dust Mechanical vibration or shock Strong magnets or speakers that are not magnetically shielded Ambient temperature of more than 95°F (35°C) or less than 41°F (5°C) High humidity Handle the memory module with care.
