If there are any dust or dirt particles on the docking station connector, your notebook may not be able to detect the docking station when it is connected (even if the particles are invisible to the eye). If the connection seems to be poor, remove the AC power adaptor and battery, and wipe off the connector and the area around it on both the notebook and the unit. Commercial air dusters are also effective for blowing away residual dust and dirt. Be careful not to damage the connectors while cleaning them.
