Make sure the PC Card is selected, and click OK. A message appears stating it is safe to remove the hardware device. Gently pull the card out of the slot.
To remove a PC Card while the computer is off 1 2 3 Push the Release button once. Gently pull the card out of the slot.
To remove slot protectors 1 2 3 Push the Release button once. If you use a Type III PC Card, you need to remove both the top and bottom PC Card slot protectors.
Connecting and disconnecting PC Card drives
The PC Card drive enables you to read data stored on a DVD or CD. Your computer may come with an external PC Card drive, depending on the model you purchased. If you wish to purchase an optional PC Card drive, shop Sony online at http://www. sonystyle. com/vaio or contact your local retailer.
If you connect a non-Sony DVD drive to your VAIO® computer, DVD playback may not function properly. The supplied DVD software must be installed to play a DVD. For best performance, use a Sony compatible DVD drive.
To connect an PC Card drive You can connect a PC Card drive while the computer is on. Connecting the drive when the computer is in a power saving mode (Standby or Hibernate) may cause the computer to malfunction.

Connecting the docking station
You can connect the docking station to the computer while the computer is on or off. Connecting the computer while it is in power saving mode (Standby or Hibernate) may result in data loss or a computer malfunction. 1 2 3 Disconnect the VGA, USB, AC, and Ethernet devices from your computer to avoid damaging them. Install the battery if it is not already installed. If you install a charged battery, you can connect the docking station while the computer is on. Plug one end of the AC adapter cable into the DC IN jack on the docking station, and plug the other end into an AC outlet. Insert the two grooves on the front of the computer into the two corresponding latches protruding from the front of the docking station.

Push the two rear corners of the computer onto the docking station until it clicks into place and is securely fastened to the docking station.
To avoid damaging the LCD display, do not apply too much pressure to the top of the computer.

Disconnecting the docking station when the docking station indicator is on, the computer is in a power saving mode (Standby or Hibernate), or the battery power is low may result in data loss or a computer malfunction. You can disconnect the docking station when the computer is on or off. To disconnect the docking station when the computer is on, use the Start menu or UNDOCK switch.
When the battery is low, turn off the computer before you disconnect the docking
station.
To disconnect the docking station when the computer is off 1 2 3 Disconnect all peripheral (attached) devices from the computer and the docking station. Remove all objects placed on top of the computer. [. . . ] All products with an i. LINK connection may not communicate with each other. Refer to the documentation that came with your compatible i. LINK device for information on operating conditions and proper connection. Before connecting compatible i. LINK PC peripherals to your system, such as CD-RW or hard disk drive, confirm their operating system compatibility and required operating conditions.
