Communicating with an Access Point (infrastructure)
An infrastructure network is a network that extends an existing wired local network to wireless devices by providing an Access Point, for example the Sony Access Point PCWA-A320. The Access Point bridges the wireless and wired LAN and acts as a central controller for the Wireless LAN. The Access Point coordinates transmission and reception from multiple wireless devices within a specific range.
To communicate with an Access Point (infrastructure), proceed as follows: 1 2 3 4 5 Turn on the Wireless LAN switch. Right-click the network icon on the taskbar displaying the Wireless Network Connection message.
Click View Available Wireless Networks. Deploying IEEE 802. 11b and IEEE 802. 11g products on the same wireless network may reduce the communication speed due to radio interference. Taking this into consideration, the IEEE 802. 11g products are designed to reduce the communication speed to ensure communications with IEEE 802. 11b products. When the communication speed is not as fast as expected, changing the wireless channel on the access point may increase the communication speed.
