To remove a PC Card, proceed as follows: 1 2 3 4 Close any applications that are using the PC Card. Double-click the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the taskbar. The Safely Remove Hardware dialog box appears. Select the hardware you want to unplug and click Stop. In the Stop a Hardware Device dialog box, select the device, confirm that it can be safely removed from the system and click OK. You see the message that it is safe to remove the device. Open the panel cover and press the PC Card release button once so it is extended and ready for use. Push the PC Card release button to eject the card. Gently grasp the card and pull it out. Picture may vary from actual configuration. 5 6 7 8 nN 46 User Guide Using your VAIO computer Expansion capabilities There are four expansion slots at the rear of your VAIO computer, as follows: Top slot: PCI Express slot containing the graphics card. Third slot: This is a PCI slot containing the TV tuner ports. There are 3 audio ports on the back of the unit to make a connection to your home cinema system via your amplifier. 1 port makes a connection to the centre speakers, another port to the front (left and right) speakers and the third port to the rear (left and right) speakers. Please read the printed Specifications document for the exact location of the audio ports, as well as the documentation provided with your amplifier/home cinema equipment for connection information. Connecting a Universal Serial Bus (USB) device You can connect a USB device such as a scanner, a floppy disk drive or a printer, to your VAIO desktop. To connect a USB device, simply plug in the USB cable of the device into one of the ports on your computer. USB devices are hot plug and play devices. You do not need to shut down your computer prior to connecting these devices unless the manual supplied with the device states otherwise. For some USB devices you need to install the software before you connect the device. Not following this procedure might cause the device not to work properly.
