They do not affect the output from the record sockets. There are two ways of manually muting the output: you can use the MODE selector on the front panel or you can press the mute button on the remote control. An LED on the front panel indicates that the 60iRv is muted. MODE headphone connection Turn the VOLUME down before you connect your headphones. Insert the headphone plug into the 1/ (6. 3 mm) stereo jack 4" socket on the front panel of your 60iRv(1). loudspeaker muting mute pre integrated pre - power pre - power av When you plug in your headphones, the loudspeaker and preamplifier outputs are automatically muted(2). muting using the mode knob Turn the MODE selector until the mark on its side points to mute to switch off the output as described above. muting using the remote control Press the mute button on the remote control to switch the output on and off(1). The output will also switch back on if you turn the VOLUME knob. automatic muting The 60iRv also mutes briefly whenever you change an INPUT or a MODE until all voltages have stabilized. 1. If the 60iRv has been muted using the MODE selector then the mute button on the remote control has no effect If you want to use headphones which have the smaller 1/8" (3. 2 mm) jack plug, you should obtain an adaptor from your retailer. Remove the adaptor from the socket when you are not using the headphones or the output will remain muted Plugging in headphones also isolates the power amplifier input 2. 22 23 grounding connecting loudspeakers The AC mains supply normally operates at either 50 or 60 Hz (depending on which country you are in). Under some circumstances, this can cause an audible hum in your loudspeakers. Should you have any problems with hum in your system, please contact your retailer. The connection between your 60iRv and your loudspeakers is crucial to the sound quality of your entire audio system. Please follow these recommendations to achieve the best results. Your 60iRv is specified to operate with 8 loudspeakers, but it can be used with 4 loudspeakers. The 60iRv may also be connected to loudspeakers which have a transient impedance of less than 4 (1). Always switch off your 60iRv before changing any connections. Always use high-quality loudspeaker cable. avoiding hum To minimise the possibility of mains hum in your system: do not link the ground terminals of separate audio units together. use screened cable for your signal connections and keep the left and right channel cables close together. loudspeaker terminals grounding your system All the units in the TAG McLaren Audio F3 Series are double insulated and do not require safety ground connections. Although a ground terminal is provided on the 60iRv, for your convenience your system does not need to be connected to ground (audio engineers call this `floating`). However, if you want to ground your system, please contact your retailer who will be able to assist you. On the back of your 60iRv, you will find four pairs of loudspeaker terminals, each pair consisting of one red and one black terminal. Two pairs are provided for each stereo channel (i. e. [. . . ] This arrangement has the added advantage of allowing you to place each amplifier close to the loudspeaker it is feeding, thus enabling you to connect them together with short cables. Connect PREAMP out left on the 60iRv to INPUT on one of the monoblocs and PREAMP out right to INPUT on the other monobloc. Connect each monobloc to a loudspeaker(2).
