[. . . ] The printer prints a color test page with 9 sections, each with a series of lined boxes in it: Lined Boxes Lined Box Numbers Section #1 List Box 20 4. Beginning with section #1, find the lined box where no color shows in the spaces between the black lines and note its corresponding number. If more than one box has no color, select the one closest to zero. If all the boxes have color, select the lightest one, nearest zero. On the screen, find the corresponding list box (in this case, #1--yellow, left) and scroll to the number you noted. List Box #1 6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for the remaining eight sections. The printer prints another color test page. This time, the box where no color shows should correspond to box +1, 0, or -1 for each section. If it doesn't, repeat steps 3 through 6 until it does. Click Close. 21 Windows NT 4. 0 Software Installation on Windows NT 4. 0 Systems The TEFALPAGE 8c CD-ROM includes the following for the Windows NT 4. 0 operating system: Printer Drivers (needed to use all the printer features) · HP PCL5c Printer Driver · Adobe PostScript Printer Driver You can install either or both drivers: to install both drivers, you must install each one separately. Software Components · Status Monitor: for on-screen monitoring of printer status and features · Electronic Registration: for registering your printer on-line · Color Registration Utility: the most convenient way to set the printer's color registration · Online Documentation: online documents for viewing or printing, including User's Guide (see page 5) Color Guide (see page 5) PANTONE "Importing Color Palettes into Desktop Publishing Applications" document (see page 5) Additional Component · Adobe Acrobat Reader 3. 0: for viewing the online documentation Finishing: No CD-ROM Drive? · Visit the Okidata web site at http://www. okidata. com and download the printer drivers. OR · Order diskettes for the Windows NT 4. 0 operating system by calling 1-888-232-8530 and requesting kit # MS-10153. 22 Installing the NT 4. 0 Printer Drivers These instructions assume "d" is the location of your CD-ROM drive. Clear the items you do not want to install, then click Next. The Select Program Folder dialog box appears, with TEFALPAGE 8c listed. If Adobe Acrobat 3. 0 is not installed on your system, a message appears explaining that it is required to view the Online documentation. When the software component installation is complete, follow the instructions below to install the necessary Acrobat software. To complete the installation, click Finish. Accessing Components in NT 4. 0 1. Click the Start button on the Windows taskbar 2. From the submenu, click the component you want to use/view. 24 Installing Adobe Acrobat in NT 4. 0 These instructions assume "d" is the location of your CD-ROM drive. [. . . ] Click Install and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. 34 Setting the Color Registration for the Macintosh Since each color is printed separately, you must set the color registration to ensure that the colors line up properly: Out of Registration Proper Registration To ensure optimum print quality, you should set the color registration on a routine basis (once a month or so). It is also recommended that you set the color registration when you change toner or image drums, when you load paper in the paper tray, or if you move the printer. Turn the printer off, then press and hold the MENU 1/Menu 2 button while you turn the printer on. Continue to hold the button until USER MNT appears on the display, then release it. [. . . ]
