Compression: · Picture is vertically compressed, Letterbox and Compression with bars at the top and bottom. modes have bars at top and · Better picture quality than in the bottom of screen. See "Notice of Letterbox mode because of more possible adverse effects on TV picture tube, " at right. · Greater chance of permanently engraining stationary patterns on the picture tube than in the Letterbox mode, since there is no raster in the bars at top and bottom.

Note: You can also change the image shape using the menu system. Select IMAGE SHAPE HD1 or HD2 in the THEATER menu.
Setting up your TV
Normal The Normal picture size displays the picture in the conventional 4:3 aspect ratio. The picture is stretched vertically to fill the screen.

Selecting the image shape 1. Make sure the ColorStream HD1 or HD2 mode is selected. Press PIC SIZE repeatedly to select either Normal, Letterbox, or Compression image shape, as described below. Note: The message "Not Available" will appear when the PIC SIZE button is pressed in the mode other than the ColorStream HD1 or HD2.

Watching PIP/double-window
The PIP/double-window feature allows you to watch two pictures at the same time. The sub-picture can be a TV broadcast or come from an external source, such as a VCR. To display a TV broadcast as a sub-picture: 1. Turn on the TV and select the program you want to watch. Press PIP once to display a small picture. A window 1/9 the size of the screen will appear. Press PIP a second time to display a double-window.

3. Press PIP CH y z to choose the program you want to be displayed as a sub-picture. If the V-CHIP feature is active and you try to watch a TV program that exceeds the rating limits you set, the TV will enter into the program block mode. See "Using V-CHIP menu" on page 30.
