Table 4-13 Fields, Options and Defaults for the Security Menu Menu Field Supervisor Password is: User Password is: Set Supervisor Password: Options -- -- [Enter] Default Clear Clear -- Description A display-only field. Set is displayed when the system supervisor password is set and Clear when it is not. Set is displayed when the general user password is set, and Clear when it is not. Sets, changes or cancels the Supervisor Password. The Supervisor Password may be up to seven characters long and must include only letters or numbers. To cancel a password press the Enter key instead of entering characters in the Enter New Password field and in the Re-enter New Password field. When a Supervisor Password is set it must be used to access the BIOS setup utility. (This field can only be accessed if the Supervisor Password is set. ) S ets, changes or cancels the User Password. Default [Customized] Description Sets the power savings parameters to a factory installed combination of parameters, a custom set of parameters set by you or no power saving features. Sets the length of time that the hard drive can be inactive before your notebook automatically turns off the power to the hard drive controller and drive motor. If you choose a factory installed combination of parameters this field will display the setting. If you choose to customize the parameters you will be able to set this yourself.
