Before you read anything else, please observe the following: Rechargeable Nickel-Metal-Hydride Battery Warning · · · · This equipment contains a rechargeable Nickel-Metal-Hydride battery. The rechargeable Nickel-Metal-Hydride battery contained in this equipment may explode if disposed of in a fire. Do not charge the rechargeable Nickel-Metal-Hydride battery used in this equipment in any charger other than the one designed to charge this battery as specified in the owner's manual. Using another charger may damage the battery or cause the battery to explode. [. . . ] Do not exert any force on this connection. It could cause damage to the battery or handset. The plastic connector will fit together only one way. Once you are certain that you have made a good connection, then insert the battery pack into the battery compartment. Tighten the screw on the cover. 7 WHAM_UA466ZL UA01466ZA_0 9/20/02 12:50 PM Page 8 Or 1. Put the alkaline battery tray inside, and install the 3 AAA batteries in the tray. 2. Replace the cover. 3. Lock both sides of the battery compartment. Tighten the screw on the cover. 4. Installing the Beltclip 1. Place the beltclip on the mounting area on the back of the WHAM, making sure the hole in the clip lines up with the notch on the back of the WHAM. Insert the screw into the corresponding hole and tighten. 2. 8 WHAM_UA466ZL UA01466ZA_0 9/20/02 12:50 PM Page 9 Control Unit Connection and Installation 1. 2. Connect the Control Unit cable and the Remote Connector. Choose the best location for the POLARIS and the Control Unit. · Away from metal objects that might interfere or obstruct the signal. Make sure the WHAM icon appears on the POLARIS' LCD. Register the WHAM to the POLARIS (See page 12). Test the POLARIS and WHAM before mounting the POLARIS and Control Unit. 3. You can turn the WHAM Off by pressing and holding POWER/VOL for 2 seconds again. * If you are not able to turn the WHAM Off, press and hold POWER/VOL for more than 15 seconds. When you turn the unit On, you will hear a beep and the following greeting message appears on the LCD for more than 2 seconds. Note: The POLARIS radio must be turned On in order for the WHAM to work. To activate Triple Watch, press and hold 16/9/TRI for 2 seconds. TRI appears on the LCD, indicating Triple Watch mode is in effect.
