Press #7; system plays announcement, then beeps. Press *7; after beep, record announcement, press #5 to stop. Press *8, then mailbox number where you want the memo recorded; speak after beep; press #5 when finished. Press #0; the system announces, "Answering machine off. " Press #0 again to turn the system back on. When system is off, it answers after 10 rings and announces, "Please enter your security code. " Enter your remote access code. · If no key is pressed within 10 seconds of entering remote access, your remote access options will be announced. After the announcement if no key is pressed within 20 seconds, the remote access call will automatically end. Basic Operation www. vtechphones. com BASIC OPERATION 31 Batteries Battery Care and Maintenance · If you repeatedly get a low battery indicator, even after charging overnight, the battery should be replaced. · To reduce the risk of fire or injury to persons or damage to the telephone, charge the battery provided with or identified for use with this product only in accordance with the instructions and limitations specified in the user's manual. · Battery power is consumed whenever the handset is off the base unit, even with the handset is not in use. · Once the battery is fully charged, you do not have to charge it again until BATTERY LOW is displayed or flashes. After your battery is fully charged, you can expect the following performance: Operation While in use (talking) While not in use (standby*) * Handset is off the base unit or charger but not in use. Operating time up to 4 hours up to 4 days · The battery needs charging when: -- A new battery is installed in the handset. -- The phone beeps twice every five seconds. -- The screen displays BATTERY LOW and the low battery icon. The battery is typically fully charged at least 16 hours. · You can keep the battery fully charged by returning the handset to the base after each use. Remove the battery compartment cover on the handset by pressing on the indentation and sliding the cover downward. Lift out the old battery and disconnect. Align the two holes in the new battery's plug with the socket pins, and snap the plug into place. Snap the battery in the compartment, as described in Installation, on page 4. Replace the cover by sliding it up into place.
