Basic Operation
Recordable Ringer
In addition to four traditional ringer options and ringer OFF, your gz 2436 Handset has five musical ringers, plus the option for you to record another 2 personal ringers, using the Ringer Recording feature. You can record your personal ringers with either the provided Audio Patch Cord or with the Handset microphone. You may record up to two unique ringers for a maximum of approximately 20 seconds each. If you record ringers from your computer or audio source, you need to first connect the Audio Patch Cord. Insert the 3. 5mm plug (the larger end) of the Audio Patch Cord into the headset jack of your PC or audio source. Then insert the 2. 5mm plug (the smaller end) into the Headset jack on the side of the gz 2436 Handset. Make sure the audio source is ready to play. Follow these steps: · · · Press PROG. Press or until the screen displays RINGER RECORDING. Press or to select the ringer position you want to record over (Rock or Empty6).

Press SELECT to start recording.

· Press SELECT to stop. The handset will play back the recorded ringer. Use dial pad keys to enter a name for your new ringer (up to 8 characters). NOTE: You must enter a name for your new ringer, or it will not be saved. If your recording is successful, you will hear a confirmation beep and the Handset will show RECORDING SUCC. If you use the Handset microphone to record ringers, do not insert the Audio Patch Cord into the headset jack. Follow the same steps above to record your ringer. NOTE: Cued-up music typically produces the best sounding recorded ringer. It is recommended to begin recording your ringer at the beginning of a song, rather than a portion from the middle to produce an audibly pleasing custom ringer.

Headset Operation
Your gz 2436 Handset is equipped with a 2. 5mm Headset Jack for use with an optional accessory Headset for handsfree operation. If you choose to use the Headset option, you must obtain an optional accessory Headset, which is compatible with the gz 2436.
For best results, use a VTech 2. 5mm headset.
