[. . . ] • After connecting the appliance, make sure that the orange switch is off. • The electrical safety of the appliance is guaranteed when the same is correctly connected to an earthy plant according to the current law. • Check ventilator operating: by pressing the orange switch, the ventilator must be operating. In case of damage call the Technical Service. Fig. [. . . ] • Some hours before defrosting, set the appliance on fast freezing (see paragraph “Use of the appliance” on page 17). • After this period disconnect the plug from the mains . • Take packs away from the appliance, wrap them into paper and place them in a cool room. • Take the external plug away and place it as per drawing . • Insert separator under the appliance and take the internal plug away . • When frost begins to melt clean the box with a sponge soaked with a solution of sodium bicarbonate. • Do not use any pointed objects or electrical heater to speed up defrosting. • Do not use any abrasive products, any detergents or soaps. • On this occasion it is also better to clean the condenser and grill (see paragraph “Maintenance” on page 19). • Place the plugs back into their seats. Clean Internal while defrosting Clean external with a wet and soft cloth Clean the motor compartment-ventilation grill and the condenser with a vacuum cleaner or soft brush: do not damage or disconnect external cables. • During holidays, if period is short, it is better to leave appliance operating. • If holiday are on long period, consume frozen foods, effect defrosting and leave the door open. 8 SUGGESTIONS ABOUT ENERGY SAVING • Avoid installing the appliance in direct sunlight, near radiators or hot plates, as this increases energy consumption. • Do not occlude the ventilation grill or air emission openings. • Once a year, take the dust away from the back of the appliance. • Adjust the right temperature by means of the thermostat. • Do not introduce warm food into the appliance • Limit opening of the cover. • A thicker layer of frost (more than 4 mm) increases energy consumption. 19 6gb33022. fm Page 20 Thursday, March 20, 2003 10:38 AM TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE If the appliance does not operate correctly or does not operate at all, before calling the Technical Service, check the following: 1.
