When the cooking surface is switched on the cooking zones reach very high temperatures: Keep children away from the hob. When frying with fat or oil it is advisable not to leave the hob unattended so as to prevent any danger of overheating or catching fire. Do not heat up the cooking zones with no pan in position. The cooking utensil should have a flat bottom that rests smoothly on the surface and thus distributes the heat efficiently and evenly. If possible, keep the pot covered when cooking. This allows a lower heat setting to be used thus saving energy. If possible, cook vegetables, potatoes, etc. Using a pressure cooker saves even more energy and shortens the cooking time. NO! CARE AND MAINTENANCE • Only clean the hob when the cooking zones are cold. Ensure that the hob is clean before you use it. • Clean the hob with a moist sponge or cloth. Remove baked- on dirt using the supplied scraper tool. Important: use the scraper as directed in the enclosed instructions. • Do not use the scraper to clean the framework. • Use special products designed for cleaning ceramic glass; do not use abrasive products. 87 INSTALLING THE HOB (NOTES FOR THE INSTALLER) • GENERAL NOTES This appliance conforms to EEC Directive 308/87 concerning radio interference suppression, complies with the class “Y” fire protection category and can be installed next to a tall cupboard. These appliances contain components that are allowed to come into contact with foodstuffs. These components conform to the EEC standard 89/109/CEE and thus are not hazardous. The ceramic hob can be fitted into a worktop of between 30 mm and 50 mm thickness. A - For a worktop made of wood use the supplied spring clips and screws in the accessory pack. • Mark the position of the 4 spring clips (A) on the worktop, as shown in the sketch. • Secure the clips using the 4 screws supplied (B). • Fit the hob into the worktop (see sketch). B - For worktops made of marble or other materials (laminated synthetic materials, ceramics, natural stone) the appliance has to be secured with special brackets, code number 4819 404 78697, (to be requested from After-Sales Service). • Secure the 4 fixing brackets (C) using screws (E) in position (D) on the hob. • The position of the fixing brackets depends on the thickness of the worktop. 88 INSTALLING THE HOB Fitting • Cut an opening in the worktop of the dimensions shown in mm on the drawing. • It is advisable to treat the opening with a water-repellent substance before fitting the hob. • To make cutting out the worktop easier, a suitable template can be obtained from After-Sales Service (code number 4819 395 88001).
