Removing the variable temperature compartment To remove the parts of the variable temperature compartment for a prolonged period (except normal cleaning operations): • Remove the upper insulating separator and the basket (see figure 2). • Press and hold the button (5) for approx. 5 seconds until the indicator (7) lights up. • If the yellow LED (6) is alight, it will turn off. The temperature inside the refrigerator compartment can be adjusted between +2°C (coldest) and +5°C (least cold) by pressing the button (3) one or more times until the display shows the desired value (4). Fig. 2 21 3Gb33002. fm5 Page 22 Tuesday, June 5, 2001 6:29 PM HOW TO OPERATE THE FREEZER COMPARTMENT Press the freezer on/off button (8). • The green LED (9) lights up (indicating the freezer compartment is "on") and blinks until the set temperature is reached, then remains permanently alight. • The acoustic alarm is activated (to deactivate, press button (14). • The red LED (15) lights up and blinks (for about 1 hour), until the critical alarm temperature is reached. • -18 (factory pre-set temperature) will appear on the display (11) for approx. 2", after which two horizontal lines remain visible until the selected temperature is reached. Important: • There is no need to set the temperature of the freezer compartment with the button (10) as it has already been factory set (-18 display 11) to provide the correct storage temperature for frozen food in the freezer. • After switching on, the freezer compartment takes approximately 3 hours to reach a suitable temperature for frozen food storage. How to adjust the internal temperature • Button (10) must be pressed one or more times until the desired value is visible on the relative display (11). • Temperature selection limit: from -18 warmest temperature to -24 coldest temperature. How to freeze fresh food The freezer compartment, marked , can be used to freeze fresh food. The amount of fresh food that can be frozen in 24 hours, at an ambient temperature of + 25°C, is indicated on the data plate. How to proceed: • 24 hours before freezing fresh food, press the fast freeze button (12) for about 2". The yellow LED ! lights up and will remain alight for 24 hours before turning off automatically. • Wrap and seal the food in: • Aluminium foil, cling film, watertight plastic bags, polythene containers with lids or special freezer containers. 22 3Gb33002. fm5 Page 23 Tuesday, June 5, 2001 6:29 PM HOW TO OPERATE THE FREEZER COMPARTMENT • Place food in the top compartment, leaving enough space for air to circulate around packs. For more efficient freezing, use the fast freeze function for the next 24 hours by pressing the button (12) again when the yellow LED (13) turns off. • Fresh food will be completely frozen after 24 hours. The fast freeze function switches off automatically after 24 hours (yellow LED (13) goes out). [. . . ] See if you can solve the problem yourself with the help of the “Troubleshooting guide”. Switch the appliance on again to see if the problem has been solved.
