Scrapping/Disposal The appliance is manufactured using recyclable material. [. . . ] This appliance has been designed, manufactured and marketed in compliance with: • safety objectives of the “Low Voltage” Directive 2006/95/CE (which replaces 73/23/CEE and subsequent amendments); • the protection requirements of Directive “EMC” 2004/108/CE. Electrical safety of the appliance can only be guaranteed if it is correctly connected to an approved earthing system. 69 HOW TO OPERATE THE REFRIGERATOR COMPARTMENT Positioning the drip tray Before switching on the appliance, position the drip tray supplied. This appliance is a refrigerator with a low temperature compartment. Optimal appliance performance is obtained at ambient temperatures between +16° C and +32°C. Starting the appliance up Insert the plug into the mains socket and set the thermostat knob to any position other than 0. Once the temperature has been set - see next chapter - the appliance is ready for use. • • • • To adjust the temperature thermostat set to 0: appliance OFF. thermostat set to 1: minimum refrigeration. thermostat set to 2-3: medium refrigeration. thermostat set to 4: maximum refrigeration. Important • Thermostat adjustment will depend on where the appliance is installed, ambient temperature and frequency of door opening. How to use the refrigerator compartment Position the food as illustrated in the figure. Note: • Cover food to prevent it drying out. • Hot food must be allowed to cool properly before being placed in the refrigerator. • Make sure sufficient space is left for air to circulate around the food. Making ice cubes Fill the ice cube tray 3/4 with water and place it at the bottom of the low temperature compartment. Use a spoon handle to remove ice cube trays which stick to the compartment. Do not use sharp or pointed instruments. 72 HOW TO DEFROST AND CLEAN THE APPLIANCE Before any maintenance or cleaning, make sure to unplug the appliance from the mains socket. Defrost the low temperature compartment when the ice on the walls reaches a thickness of 3 mm. • Remove foodstuffs from the low temperature compartment and set the thermostat to 0. • Clean the freezer compartment using a sponge dampened in a solution of lukewarm water and/or neutral detergent. After cleaning, reconnect the appliance to the power supply. Do not use abrasive products. For long vacations. • Disconnect the appliance from the mains power supply. • Leave the doors open to prevent formation of unpleasant odours. TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE 1. Temperature inside the compartments is not low enough. • Is food preventing the doors from closing properly?
