Disposal must be carried out in accordance with local environmental regulations for waste disposal. However, it is advisable to avoid opening the compartment door during such periods. • Press the freeze button (F), where provided, 24 hours before placing fresh food in the freezer in order to improve the freezing process. • Before freezing, wrap and seal fresh food in: aluminium foil, cling film, air and water-tight plastic bags, polythene containers with lids or freezer containers suitable for freezing fresh food. • Arrange fresh food to be frozen in the top compartment leaving sufficient space around each pack for the air to circulate. The lower grid (if supplied) can be removed in order to increase the compartment capacity. • When putting food in to freeze, turn the thermostat control knob down half a position (e. g: from 3 to 2. 5). • The food will be completely frozen in 24 hours; the thermostat control knob can then be returned to the previous position (e. g. • The amount of fresh food that can be frozen in 24 hours is indicated in Kg on the data plate; this indication is based on an ambient temperature of 25°C. Making ice cubes • Fill the ice cube tray 2/3 full and place it in the freezer compartment • Do not use sharp or pointed instruments to detach the tray if it is stuck to the bottom of the freezer compartment. • Bend the ice tray slightly to remove the cubes. HOW TO DEFROST THE REFRIGERATOR COMPARTMENT Defrosting of the refrigerator compartment is completely automatic. • Droplets of water on the rear wall of the refrigerator compartment indicate that the periodic automatic defrost cycle is in progress. • The defrost water is automatically routed to a drain outlet and into a container from which it evaporates. • Clean the defrost water drain outlet regularly using the tool supplied with the appliance in order to ensure defrost water is removed correctly. • See the “Care and Maintenance” chapter. 19 3gb33009. fm Page 20 Monday, January 27, 2003 9:23 AM HOW TO DEFROST AND CLEAN THE FREEZER Defrost the freezer compartment once or twice a year or when ice formation is excessive.
