To get the most from your new appliance, carefully read the user handbook which contains a description of the appliance and useful tips for storing food. Keep this handbook for future consultation. After unpacking, make sure that the appliance is undamaged and that the door closes perfectly tight. [. . . ] Ice is dispensed from the automatic ice maker bucket in the freezer compartment. When a glass is held against the external lever, a shutter opens between the ice bucket and the dispenser. The shutter closes when the glass is taken off the lever. The dispenser will not operate when the freezer compartment door is open. Large amounts of ice cubes should be taken directly from the bucket, not through the dispenser. For crushed ice, cubes are crushed before being dispensed. This may cause a slight delay in dispensing crushed ice. Noise from the ice crusher is normal, and pieces of ice may vary in size. When changing from crushed ice to ice cubes, a small quantity of crushed ice will be dispensed along with the first cubes. After starting the appliance, it generally takes overnight before the first ice cubes are ready. • If the dispenser does not dispense ice when pressing the lever, change the selection mode from ice cubes to crushed ice or vice versa, (see figure) so as to remove any ice blocks. • Normal Ice Production should produce approximately 7 to 9 batches of ice in a 24-hour period. Use warm water to melt the ice if necessary. Never use anything sharp to break up the ice in the bucket. This can cause damage to the ice bucket and the dispenser mechanism. Wash the ice bucket with a mild detergent, rinse well and dry thoroughly. Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaners or solvents. 15 63702001GB. fm Page 16 Friday, September 8, 2006 6:51 PM NOTE: Do not turn the ice maker on until it is connected to the water supply. • It is normal for ice cubes to stick together at the corners. • The ice maker will not work until the freezer compartment is cold enough to make ice. • Good water quality is important for good ice quality. Water softener chemicals such as salt can damage the ice maker and lead to poor quality ice. COMMON ICE MAKER PROBLEMS PROBLEM The dispenser does not work.
