[. . . ] A name with which to save the Wave file will be automatically assigned. 4 If necessary, press Knob 3 to specify a different name. When you have finished setting the name, press the [ENTER] button to return to Page 1 of the Performance screen. For details regarding the setting of names, refer to the Basic Operations section above (page 20). NOTE Whenever Wave files are being recorded on your CP5 and CP50, the characters } and { are automatically added to the file name as the 7th and 8th characters, and modification of these characters prior to recording is not possible. Although names can be edited after recording, these two characters should not be removed. When compared with the volume of performances on the keyboard, the playback volume of Wave files recorded on the stage piano is extremely low; accordingly, the playback level is automatically increased for Wave files with } and { characters in the positions indicated in order to maintain a good balance between keyboard and playback levels. Quick Start Guide 5 Press the [PAGE ], [3], or [4] button to navigate to Pages 3 and 4 of the Record screen, and then turn Knobs 1 to 3 to set the tempo, time signature, and metronome for recording. The currently selected backing track will also play, and it will be recorded together with your keyboard performance. NOTICE The USB flash-memory device should never be removed during recording as it may be permanently damaged as a result of this action. NOTE If a Wave file has been set as the Performance's backing track, it will not playback during the recording process. NOTE If you would prefer not to have the backing track play while recording, turn off the TRACK part using the [TRACK] button. (The corresponding lamp will go out when the part is turned off. ) CP5/CP50 Owner's Manual 43 Recording Keyboard Performances 7 Press the [ ] (Stop) button. Recording will end and the Performance screen will be displayed. The recorded Wave file will be stored on the plugged-in USB flash-memory device, and in addition, it will be automatically set as the backing track for the current Performance. 8 Press the [ / ] (Play / Pause) button to listen to your recording. You can stop playback at any time by pressing the [ ] (Stop) button. Using Key-on Start to Begin Recording Your CP5 or CP50 also features a Key-on Start function that can be used to start recording in response to playing of the keyboard. The following describes how to use this function. 1 2 Quick Start Guide Press the [SONG SETTING] button, followed by the [3] button. Page 3 of the Song Setting screen will be displayed. Turn Knob 1 to set the StartKey parameter as required. If you set this parameter to "all", any key can be pressed to start recording. Press the [REC] button to call up the Record screen, and then set the parameters on this screen as required for your recording (pages 41, 43). Hold down the [ ] (Stop) button and press the [ Recording will be set to Standby condition. / ] (Play / Pause) button. 3 4 5 Press the key that you set for the StartKey parameter in Step 2 above. You can stop recording at any time by pressing the [ ] (Stop) button. 44 CP5/CP50 Owner's Manual Integrating with Other MIDI Devices Integrating with Other MIDI Devices You can connect your stage piano's MIDI [IN], [OUT], and [THRU] connectors to MIDI connectors on other MIDI devices using standard MIDI cables (sold separately). The following section will describe how external MIDI devices connected in this way can then be controlled from your CP5 or CP50. NOTE Even when your CP5 or CP50 is connected to other MIDI devices, you will need to connect a stereo system or an amplifier and speakers in order to hear the sound produced. Alternatively, a pair of headphones can always be connected for direct monitoring of the stage piano. For details, see Connecting Audio Equipment from the Setting Up section (page 15).
