What is RDS?
RDS (Radio Data System) is a data transmission system gradually being introduced by FM stations in many countries. Stations using this system transmit an inaudible stream of data in addition to the normal radio signal. RDS data contains various information, such as Program Identification (PI), Program Service name (PS), Program Type (PTY), Traffic Program (TP), Radio Text (RT), Clock Time (CT), etc. The unit is compatible with the RDS system for PS, PTY, TP, RT, and CT. Note
· RDS may not work properly if the station you are tuned to is not transmitting the RDS signal properly or if the signal strength is weak. · Some FM stations do not offer RDS service. Of those that do, not all provide the same types of services. Check with your local radio stations for details on RDS services in your area.
