1. Cowling
The cowlings and panels shown need to be removed to perform some of the maintenance jobs described in this chapter. Refer to this section each time a cowling or panel needs to be removed and installed.
To remove the cowling Remove the screws, and then take the cowling off. To install the cowling Place the cowling in the original position, and then install the screws.
To remove the panel Remove the screws, and then take the panel off. To install the panel Place the panel in the original position, and then install the screws.

normally). If the spark plug shows a distinctly different color, the engine could be defective. Do not attempt to diagnose such problems yourself. Instead, have a Yamaha dealer check the vehicle. If the spark plug shows signs of electrode erosion and excessive carbon or other deposits, it should be replaced.
Specified spark plug: CR8E (NGK)
Spark plug gap: 0, 7~0, 8 mm (0, 0275in-0, 0315in)
Clean the surface of the spark plug gasket and its mating surface, and then wipe off any grime from the spark plug threads.
Tightening torque: Spark plug: 20 Nm 2, 0 m·kgf, 14, 46ft·lb)
1. Spark plug cap
The spark plug is an important engine component, which should be checked periodically, preferably by a Yamaha dealer. Since heat and deposits will cause any spark plug to slowly erode, it should be removed and checked in accordance with the periodic maintenance and lubrication chart. [. . . ] Pour the drained fuel into the fuel tank. Fill up the fuel tank and add fuel stabilizer (if available) to prevent the fuel tank from rusting and the fuel from deteriorating.
