YAMAHA shall not be liable for any accident caused by improper placement or installation of speakers. ACCESSORIES Check that the following item is included. Speaker cable (4m) x 2 PLACING THE SPEAKERS · Place the speakers on a sturdy, vibration-free surface. You may not be able to obtain good bass quality when the speakers are placed directly on the floor. · Better stereo images will be obtained when the speakers are slightly angled in towards the listening position. Note These speakers feature a magnetically shielded design, but there is still a chance that placing them too close to a TV set might impair picture color. Should this happen, move the speakers away from the TV set. CONNECTION TO YOUR RECEIVER BEFORE MAKING CONNECTIONS, MAKE SURE THAT THE RECEIVER IS SWITCHED OFF. I CONNECTIONS · Connect the screw-type input terminals at the rear of the speakers to the speaker output terminals of the receiver with the provided speaker cables. · One side of the speaker cable is red and the other side is black. Connect the (+) terminals on the receiver and speakers using the red side. Connect the (­) terminals on both components using the black side of the cable. · Connect one speaker to the left (marked L) terminals of the receiver, and the other to the right (marked R) terminals. Make sure not to reverse polarity (+, ­). If a speaker is connected with reverse polarity, the sound will be unnatural and lack bass. 2 When using a banana plug Loosen Tighten Black (­) Red (+) 3 Banana plug 1 2 Red line 1 Remove the cover by pulling it toward you. 3 Simply insert the banana plug into the terminal. To remove the cover, hold on to both sides and slowly pull straight away from the speaker. To reattach, line up the four pegs on the inner surface of the cover with the four corresponding holes on the speaker and push gently. Black line Speaker output terminals of the receiver Receiver How to connect: 1 Loosen the knob. 2 Remove the insulation coating at the extremity of each speaker cable by twisting the coating off. 4 Tighten the knob and secure the cable. Test the firmness of the connection by pulling lightly on the cable at the terminal.
