The tone bars are held to the frame with a single pin design which reduces the chance of inaccuracy in performance and unwanted movement of the tone bars. The tone bars are tuned under strict temperature and humidity conditions to provide bars with stable pitch. This mounting system minimizes the amount of surface to surface contact at the tone bars' nodal mounting point by placing a twisted string between the tone bar and the felt. The use of this system results in the nearly total elimination of noise plus greater resonance and purer tone. The case is designed to deliver optimum tone and volume from the glockenspiel. â· The case is also designed so that the handle and locks are not an obstruction while the instrument is being played.
