Clean the surface of the spark plug gasket and its mating surface, and then wipe off any grime from the spark plug threads.
Tightening torque: Spark plug: 12. 5 Nm (1. 25 m·kgf, 9. 0 ft·lbf)

Engine oil and oil filter cartridge
The engine oil level should be checked before each ride. In addition, the oil must be changed and the oil filter cartridge replaced at the intervals specified in the periodic maintenance and lubrication chart. Place the vehicle on a level surface and hold it in an upright position. NOTE: Make sure that the vehicle is positioned straight up when checking the oil level. A slight tilt to the side can result in a false reading. Start the engine, warm it up for several minutes, and then turn it off. Wait a few minutes until the oil settles.
4. Remove the engine oil dipstick and wipe it clean, insert it back into the hole (without screwing it in), and then remove it again to check the oil level.

This model is equipped with a canister to prevent the discharging of fuel vapor into the atmosphere. Before operating this vehicle, make sure to check the following: G Check each hose connection. G Check each hose and canister for cracks or damage. G Make sure that the canister breather is not blocked, and if necessary, clean it.

CAUTION: If the oil level warning light flickers or remains on, immediately turn the engine off and have a Yamaha dealer check the vehicle. Turn the engine off, and then check the oil level and correct it if necessary. Install the cowling.
