Before defrosting, cleaning or maintenance work is carried out, be sure to switch off the appliance and unplug it. [. . . ] Should the food begin to thaw, it must be consumed quickly and must not be re-frozen (see page 16). DEFROSTED COOKED FOOD MUST NOT BE REFROZEN. Thawing Food can be thawed in a number of ways, depending on the type of food and the size of the packs. Meat, fish and fruit should be thawed in the refrigerator compartment and small pieces of meat or poultry can even be cooked while still frozen, but you must ensure that it is thoroughly cooked through. Vegetables should be directly immersed in boiling water; readycooked dishes can be placed directly in the oven in their aluminium wrapping. A microwave oven is particularly suitable for thawing any type of frozen or deep-frozen food: follow the oven instructions, particularly regarding the placement of aluminium wrapping or containers in the oven. Fig. 11 Making ice cubes The appliance is provided with two plastic ice cube trays. Fill the trays 3/4 full to allow the ice to expand and place them in one of the freezer drawers. Tests showed that the temperature of 1 1itre of orange juice rose to 22°C in an hour between the supermarket and home. It then took 11 hours to get down to 7°C in the refrigerator. Keep the refrigerator door closed as much as possible. Remember that warm air is flowing in as you are deciding what to have for tea!By reversing the lid the box becomes airlight and can be used as a salad crisper . 13 Positioning the door shelves To perrnit storage of food packages of various sizes, the door shelves can be adjusted in height. 14 The top shelf can be removed for easier cleaning (see Fig. 14). D009 Drink dispenser The container for cooling drinks (Fig. 15) is located in the door of the fridge. It is easily removed from its runners for filling and cleaning by pushing it upwards from the left side and then by pulling sharply outwards. To pour a drink, press a glass upwards against the tap arms. To stop the flow of liquid remove the glass. Before using the dispenser, we recommend that you rinse it several times with hot water. For thorough cleaning of the container add a spoonful of bicarbonate of soda to the rinsing water. Push the dispenser tap on and off several times to allow sugar deposits from soft drinks or wines to dissolve, or alternatively remove for cleaning by unscrewing in an anticlockwise direction. Empty the container and rinse thoroughly with clean water.
