Keep work surfaces clean and avoid cross contamination by not using the same work surface or knife, without washing them thoroughly in between. DEFROSTING While in operation the -star compartment becomes progressively covered with frost. This frost, which acts as an insulator and thus prevents the cold from reaching the food should be removed whenever the thickness of the frost exceeds 1/4".
