[. . . ] Do not use a mechanical device or any artificial means to speed up the thawing process other than those recommended by the manufacturer. Never use metal objects for cleaning your appliance as it may get damaged. Installation s s Service / Repair s s s Any electrical work required to install this appliance should be carried out by a qualified electrician or competent person. This appliance should be serviced by an authorised Service Centre, and only genuine spare parts should be used. [. . . ] However, the exact setting should be chosen keeping in mind that the temperature inside the refrigerator depends on: room temperature; how often the door is opened; the quantity of food stored; location of appliance. A medium setting is generally the most suitable. To stop operation, simply turn the thermostat knob to position «O». Operation Insert the plug into the wall socket. Open the refrigerator door and turn the thermostat knob, clockwise, beyond the «O» (STOP) position. The appliance will start to operate. Temperature regulation The temperature is automatically regulated and can be increased to achieve a higher temperature (warmer) by rotating the thermostat knob toward lower settings or reduced (colder) rotating the knob towards higher settings. 4 Storing chilled foods The refrigerator compartment is suitable for chilling food and drinks. For best results, it is important to follow the rules below: do not put hot food or evaporating liquids in the refrigerator; cover or wrap all foods (especially spicy or strong-smelling foods); do not cover the shelves with paper, card or protective plastic sheeting which would prevent air from circulating through the grilles. We also recommend the following: cooked foods, cold dishes, jelly, etc. : should be well covered and may be placed on any shelf in the refrigerator; fruit and vegetables: should be washed and then placed in the salad box at the bottom of the refrigerator; butter and cheese: should be placed in suitable containers or wrapped in aluminium foil or plastic film to avoid drying out; milk in bottles: should be well capped and placed in the door compartment; raw meat (all types): should be wrapped in plastic bags and placed in the special meat box or on the top shelf immediately below the evaporator. Bananas, potatoes, onions and garlic should not be placed in the refrigerator unless pre-packed. Movable shelves The walls of the refrigerator are equipped with a series of runners so that the shelves can be positioned as desired. D040 Ice cube production The refrigerator is equipped with one or more ice cube trays, which should be filled with drinking water and placed in the special compartment. Do not use metal implements to detach the trays. 5 Defrosting During normal operation, the evaporator in the refrigerator compartment will gradually become covered with frost. This frost is a thermal insulator which inhibits cooling and must therefore be removed, otherwise there will be a significant reduction in cooling efficiency and an increase in electricity consumption. Turn the thermostat knob on position "O", making sure that the stopper of the water collector tray is firmly inserted in the water drain hole; 2. Once defrosted, turn the thermostat knob on a medium position to restart the appliance. The water which has collected in the tray placed under the evaporator must be removed. Place a container on the first shelf in the refrigerator directly under the water drain hole of the defrost tray and remove the stopper as shown in the figure. Dry thoroughly the ice-compartment and replace the stopper. D188 MAINTENANCE Unplug the appliance before carrying out any maintenance operation. The light bulb The opening on the diffuser gives access to the light bulb. If the light does not come on when the door is opened, check that the bulb is screwed in properly; replace the bulb if the fault persists. The rating is shown on the light bulb cover. Periodical cleaning Wash the interior of the appliance with lukewarm water and sodium bicarbonate. Clean cabinet outer surfaces with a silicone-wax spray. [. . . ] If the domestic power supply socket is not earthed, connect the appliance to a separate earth in compliance with current regulations, consulting a specialist technician. The Manufacturer declines all responsibility if the above safety precautions are not observed. This appliance complies with EEC directive number 87/ 308 of 2/6/87 relative to radio interference suppression. 1. [. . . ]
